Middle Schoolers in Canarsie learn about agriculture and food science

Under the guidance of trusted educators and urban nutritionists, a group of students explore the world of nutrition. Through a collaboration with Cornell University and New York State 4-H, 34 students gained new experiences with food and culture, as well as information and tools needed to continue their nutritional journey. The 12 week program dubbed Advanced Cooking Education (ACE) was developed by Dr. Tashara M. Leak, an Assistant Professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell University in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension-New York City (CUCE-NYC) and New York State 4-H. Students learned about careers in food and nutrition, agriculture and cooking different recipes.
