The Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Partnership offers professional development for youth workers in New York State

CUCE-NYC offers Advanced Youth Development Training on site in its New York City office. Part of the Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Partnership, Advancing Youth Development: A Curriculum for Youth Workers is the centerpiece of the Center for Youth Development and Policy Research's Professional Development for Youth Workers Project, sponsored by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).

The Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Partnership offers professional development for youth workers in New York State. Using a train-the-trainer model, teams of trainers from a variety of youth serving organizations are recruited, trained and supported to provide AYD trainings in their county or region. Trainings are designed for front line youth workers, program managers, administrators and others with responsibility or resources to support effective youth development.

The training provides an in-depth introduction to key concepts such as positive youth development outcomes, youth engagement, adultism and services, opportunities and supports

Newly updated, energized and condensed, the core AYD curriculum is an 18-hour training designed for front line youth workers, volunteers, program managers and supervisors. The training provides an in-depth introduction to positive youth development and its key concepts such as positive youth development outcomes, youth engagement, adultism and services, opportunities and supports. Its highly participatory format encourages an open discussion of how these principles can be integrated into youth work practice and can strengthen youth worker core competencies.

Youth Development Basics Workshop

This 4-hour workshop briefly and dynamically introduces the positive youth development approach to volunteers, supervisors, administrators, board members, funders and community members interested and involved in youth services provision in local communities.

Strengthening Organizations Through Youth Development

The CUCE-NYC training team offers workshops throughout the year on site. These 6-hour workshops engage teams from youth service organizations in learning how positive youth development principles can influence and strengthen their organizational policies and practices, thus creating a more supportive environment for effective youth development work. The training includes a follow up meeting two months later to troubleshoot and provide additional technical assistance.

These sessions are tailored to meet specific needs of your organization.

Primary audiences for this training are decision makers within agencies, such as supervisory and administrative staff.
